July - Month of the Precious Blood: Modern man is squeamish about the mention of blood but blood means life and the Precious Blood is the divine life of Christ or the life of Grace which we get in the Sacraments.  In the unreformed calendar, July 1st was the feast of the Precious Blood and on this day, in 1969 our church was consecrated and anointed by Archbishop Cyril Cowderoy.

Fr Przemyslaw Zgorecki: Sadly the appeal that I sent to the Archdiocese of Poznan did not work as they want their priest back home!   So it is very sad to have to announce that Fr Przemek will have to leave at the end of this month. I know that he and I are both sad as his time with us has been so short.  I am very grateful to him for his priestly work here at St Bede’s and for his kindness.  I hate having to say goodbye again and starting from scratch is a drag.  However now St Bede’s has a loyal friend in Poznan and we hope to see him from time to time in the future.  In two weeks on the 15th July, fr Przemek will preach at all the Masses and formally say goodbye (before the schools close) but he will not depart until the end of the month.            Fr Christopher.

Welcome to Fr Martin Thompson:  who now runs a parish in Durres in Albania.  He is recuperating after surgery this past week.

Welcome to Sister Olga:  St Elizabeth’s Convent in Belarus will be here to sell icons and articles of piety after the Masses today.

Parish Council Meeting - Tomorrow 7.30pm:  If you would like to raise anything with the council, please put it in writing and place in an envelope ‘for the attention of the Parish Council’.

St John's Seminary - Wonersh:  The Seminary, near Guildford, Surrey (which has been involved in the formation of priests for England and Wales for over 125 years) is looking for some help with the cost of redecoration and refurbishment of 30 of its bedrooms, which have received little or no upgrading for 40+ years.

Many rooms have threadbare carpets and curtains which are close to disintegration.  Some of the beds, mattresses and other furniture began their life in the Junior Seminary at Mark Cross, Sussex - which closed in 1970.
The Seminary operates on a very tight budget, and there are no funds available for this much-needed work, which would cost in the region of £2,000 per room.  If you can help in any way, please send a cheque made payable to St John's Seminary to: Mgr Gerry Ewing (Vice-Rector), St John's Seminary, Wonersh, Guildford, Surrey, GU5 0QX
