2nd Collection this weekend - Day for Life: This year the Day for Life will focus on all those who are suffering or have survived human trafficking and modern slavery.  It provides an opportunity to pray, reflect, and to choose the ways in which action, as well as practical and emotional support, can ensure the dignity of human life is upheld at every stage of a person’s life.  As Pope Francis has said, “The trade in human beings violates the God-given dignity of many of our brothers and sisters, and constitutes a true crime against humanity”.  Jesus also tells us, “I have come that you may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10 NJB).
Many people do not have a life to the full because they are traded as objects and not recognised as persons.  They have fallen victim to the scourge of human trafficking and modern slavery which are an assault on a person's innate human dignity.  Further information is to be found on Santa Marta website www.santamartagroup.com
The 2nd Collection today for Day for Life enables the Church to fund the Anscombe Bioethics Centre formerly the Linacre Centre for Healthcare Ethics), as well as projects which work to protect life at every stage and in every condition.  Please visit and encourage others to visit www.dayforlife.org.

This Friday - Summer Fayre - St Bede School 4-7pm: Every year our two schools come together to organise their annual summer Fayre. Please do come and support them. It is fun for all ages & we will put St Joseph’s statue out that day so that Our Lady will not allow him to get wet!

Next Weekend: We have a Reunion Mass for our FHC & Confirmation families on Saturday 6pm. Then, the next day (Sunday 24th), our First Communicants & Confirmation candidates will all lead the Corpus Christi Procession starting at St Bernadette School at 3pm.

Catherine Hourigan RIP: Catherine (wife of the late Jerry Hourigan – old School-keeper of La Retraite & St Bernadette)  passed away last Saturday.  Both Jerry & Catherine worked in 2 of our schools for many years.  Her Requiem Mass will take place on Friday 6th July at 11.30am.

St John's Seminary - Wonersh:  The Seminary, near Guildford, Surrey (which has been involved in the formation of priests for England and Wales for over 125 years) is looking for some help with the cost of redecoration and refurbishment of 30 of its bedrooms, which have received little or no upgrading for 40+ years.
Many rooms have threadbare carpets and curtains which are close to disintegration.  Some of the beds, mattresses and other furniture began their life in the Junior Seminary at Mark Cross, Sussex - which closed in 1970.
The Seminary operates on a very tight budget, and there are no funds available for this much-needed work, which would cost in the region of £2,000 per room.  If you can help in any way, please send a cheque made payable to St John's Seminary to: Mgr Gerry Ewing (Vice-Rector), St John's Seminary, Wonersh, Guildford, Surrey, GU5 0QX
