27th Sunday (Old Rite: XVIII Sunday after Pentecost)

Welcome to Fr Hyacinth Ogbodo: of the Holy Ghost Fathers (now often called Spiritans).  Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre was their Superior General for many years. He is originally from Enugu in Nigeria, and spent 14 years in Lagos.  Fr Hyacinth is now at St Mary Magdalen, in Brockley. He has come especially for our annual African & Caribbean Thanksgiving Mass.  There will be food in the club rooms after this Mass.

Welcome back to Fr Gregory Klaja: from Bielsko Byala in the south of Poland.  He was a student of Byzantine Liturgy and per chance stumbled upon the fact there was a not dissimilar traditional liturgy in the West.  He was at St Bede’s for one year learning the Old Rite and improving his English.  It is lovely to have him back here again.

Who is on the Parish Council: Prior to last week’s meeting we were asked if we could advertise the members of the parish council and which areas of parish life they each represent.  Beside the resident clergy, the council is made up of:

  • Maria Chan Chang (Latin Mass Community),
  • Catalina Snowdon (Latin American Community),
  • Susanna Nwaiwu (African & Caribbean Community),
  • John Reddin (Choir),
  • Phyllis Cort (Sacramental Programmes),
  • Maggie Keane (UCM),
  • Marcia Marshall (Safeguarding Representative)
  • Ann Holder (Evangelisation).
First Communion 2018: Last chance to pick up an application form from Fr Christopher this weekend.  Your child should be in Yr. 3 or above.

Bazaar Meeting: Tomorrow (Monday) at 7.30pm.  We need your ideas, offers of help, and support to raise as much as we can towards our Diocesan contribution of over £20,000 per year.

Rosary Crusade This Saturday: This is the biggest procession of the year, leaving from Westminster Cathedral at 2.15pm & walking all the way across London to Brompton Oratory where we have hymns, a sermon, blessing of scapulars & Benediction. Our first communicants (special clothes) and our servers lead the way. We will meet at Westminster Cathedral; near Victoria by 2pm. Children MUST be accompanied by their parents or an appropriate adult.

Cleaners this week: Ella Shllaku, Elizabeth Vosas, Maria Eugenia Galvis & Anais Tarelho.

Put your clothing/bedding into tied sacks and bring them to Mass where the charity Mary’s Meals will be here to pick them up. Amazingly 4 full black sacks of good quality clothing will feed a child one good nutritious meal every school day for a whole year!  Mary’s Meals is a charity that sets up school feeding programmes in communities where poverty and hunger prevent children from gaining an education
