12th Sunday / (Old Rite) III Sunday after Pentecost

Corpus Christi Procession - 3pm Today: After all the great Feasts of the year ranging from Christmas to Easter to Pentecost ending in the celebration of the sublime Trinity, we come to Corpus Christi (15th June in the Old Rite and 18th in the New Rite). In this feast we see the outpouring of the love of God for us in the Eucharist. The Manna of old kept the first people of God on their way through unexpected and bewildering terrains. Today we honour the Lord by the greatest procession of the year. Our First Communicants and those to be confirmed will lead the way, with accompanying trumpets and drum. Come and honour the Lord passing through your parish! Today the King of Kings comes through our own streets and we should be for at least some of it; walking with or waiting here the Lord. Processions have a meaning in that we walk together in the same direction. In other words it sums up our whole Christian life which we live with others and for others, always conscious of the direction of our lives which is of course the Kingdom of Heaven.

Next Weekend - Confirmations: Bishop Patrick Lynch will be here to confirm our 18 candidates at the 12.30 Mass. On Saturday we will have a preparation day starting at 11.30 & on Sunday, all candidates should be at St Bede’s school by 11.45 for the group photo.
Welcome to Fr Dominic Clovis:  who was ordained 2 weeks ago.  He will say a first Mass today at 11am and preach and give his first blessing after all Masses.  Fr Dominic was born in 1989 in Eltham, the 6th child of 10 (5th boy) and was baptised by Fr Hugh Thwaites and made his First Communion here at St Bede’s.  He went to St Mary’s and St Thomas More in Eltham and 6th form in Chislehurst.  At 18 he entered IVE (Institution of the Incarnate Word – the group who came to do our Mission week in 2015), studying in Italy.  He will now be placed in Edinburgh.  His Dad, Greg helps with marriage prep, and meetings with our First Communion parents and Confirmation candidates.  His Uncle, Fr Linus Clovis has often been here.

Welcome to Felipe Alanis: from Mexico, who is the President of International Federation of Una Voce.  At the shared lunch he will address us briefly.

Summer Fayre: St Bernadette School Friday 5-8pm: Every year our two schools come together to organise their annual summer Fayre. Please do come and support them. It is fun for all ages and we will put St Joseph’s statue out that day so that Our Lady will not allow him to get wet!

Youth Club Summer Round up: Sunday 9th July.  We will not meet until then and that will be it for the summer.

Readers Rota July-Sept: now available in the Church porch.  Please pick up your copy today.

Welcome to God's Church: Peter Hugh Karol Tattersall, son of Pierce & Karolina baptised last weekend by Fr Lukasz.

Cleaners this week: Trisha & Emma Johnson & Regjina Curaj.
New Rota has now been sent out:  due to the number of cleaners no longer coming to clean, we have had to mix the groups up.

Summer in the Forest: This is the title of a remarkable new film about the inspirational Catholic philosopher Jean Vanier and the L’Arche communities he founded, being released in the UK on Friday 23 June. The film tells the story of the search for love and friendship by the intellectually disabled members of the the L’Arche communities in France and Bethlehem. It is comic, touching and moving. As one critic said ... ‘it is extremely rare for a film to have the power to change lives - this one really might’. It will be released at Picture House Piccadilly and will be showing for 7 days - and there will be a special screening at Clapham Picture House at 6.30 pm on Thursday 29 June - followed by a Q&A with the film director. Early booking is seriously advised.  www.summerintheforest.com - for more details of the film.
