26th Sunday of Ordinary Time (Old Rite: XIX Sunday after Pentecost)

Archbishop's Letter: Archbishop Peter Smith has a message for us all this Sunday especially appealing for catechists.  The new certificate which he is launching in January sounds very promising.  It is in conjunction with the School of the Annunciation at Buckfast Abbey.  The founder of our Diocesan catechetical Centre, Mgr George Telford (whose brother for years supported the 11am Mass) decried modern catechesis as “theologically bankrupt and doctrinally vacuous.” Please God we are learning our lessons that the faith cannot be transmitted without the serious content of the Gospel, the Tradition and the Magesterium.

Clergy Support Fund: As most of you heard last week, Archbishop Peter Smith would like every Catholic in the Diocese to have an opportunity to hear about the needs of sick and retired priests and how you can lend your support to this fundraising campaign to raise £4.5m over the next four years.  Last week, Ken Atmore gave a presentation at each Mass about the scheme and information packs were handed out after the Mass.  If you didn’t pick up a pack last week – please collect one this weekend!  Thank you.

Thank You:  to Mr. Ken Atmore from the Clergy Support Fund and all who watched and participated.  Please be generous.
