23rd Sunday of Ordinary Time (Old Rite: XVI Sunday after Pentecost)

Welcome back to our schools: Tomorrow our four schools will begin their new term and there will be a buzz of activity (and traffic!) throughout the parish. Please God everybody has had a little bit of a break and is now ready to face the new term with energy and zeal!

Welcome to Frs Michael Rowe, Piotr Brud and Yassa Zakaria:  Fr Piotr will be with us for a month and Fr Yassa and Fr Michael will be here intermittently in between their other trips (Fr Michael accompanied several of ours on foot to Walsingham.

Welcome back to Fr Pawel: We are very happy to have Father back with us.  He had an unforgettable experience at World Youth Day with Jean Pierre Cardenas, Charlie Reddin, the Bagowskis, fr Stephen Boyle and his group from Dartford and over 2 million others!

Open Days for Year 7 Entry September 2017: We will post on the notice boards the info on Open Mornings & Evenings as and when we get them. You can also find the information on this blog CLICK HERE to be taken straight to the page.

Bazaar Dates for your diary!! Friday 25th & Saturday 26th November.

Launch of the New St Bede's Youth Group - Next Sunday: Open to those in Year 7 and above. The first of our sessions will be on Sunday 11th after the 6pm mass: At present, we hope to run the club for 4 weeks and then assess how it has been received and whether it is feasible to establish a way forward after these sessions. If you want a youth club, then join us, give us ideas and offers to volunteer from parents please! An initiative like this would be a winner for us all, the youth can meet in a safe environment and keep links with friends who share their faith;  parents can help run it and they too can spend this time catching up. We hope to work a facilitator’s rota, to watch over the youth and to provide refreshments. If you are interested, have ideas or questions then come to our youth club on Sunday or email Chris Brew Graves.

Clergy Support Fund: Next weekend we will start our campaign for the Clergy Support Fund. Basically this is an appeal to help the retirement fund for the “baby boomers” who are approaching retirement with their inevitable medical needs as these were a bumper crop of classes of priestly ordinations.

Letter from the La Retraite Sisters: It was so good to have news of the parish and our former schools. We all hope the new Head of La Retraite will do well. All four of us here have good memories of our time in the school and the parish. Sr Patricia Talbot is a former pupil of La Retraite; Sister Jean Daniel was Superior of our Care community for many years; Sister Eileen Healy, of course was Head of La Retraite and I spent 17 years there as teacher and Head of St Bernadette’s and have very happy memories. Some of these years I also assisted as catechist at St Bede’s. We are all very impressed by your newsletters; your parishioners are very privileged to be so well served spiritually by your numerous priests. We congratulate you. I am still in touch with former ‘old girls’. Sister Eileen read the newsletters and was delighted to see names she remembers from the past. We all send our thanks and prayerful good wishes. May God bless you, the schools and all your parishioners. With every blessing, Sister Pauline Mahony" of La Retraite Convent (see fr Chris for their address if you would like to write to them.

Congratulations: Liam Murphy & Sharon McElthatton who got married here at the beginning of August; Charles Tyldesley (former server and MC at 11am) who married Hermine Latournerie near Chavagnes and Ben Stockermans (singer at 11am & Vespers) and Katie who were married in St Aidan’s, Coulsdon.

Goodbye to the Omosanya Family: Charles, Abiola and their two children who lived across the road from us have moved to Walderslade near Chatham in Kent.  Coincidently the parish they have moved to is administered by Fr Bartek, a classmate of Fr Lukasz from Przemysl in Poland. We will miss them but wish them well in their new home.

Cleaners for this week: Paula Ajuga, Rose Anunwa & Ms Nazareth Kristos.
