Most Holy Trinity

For this week's Masses - Click Here
Marian Procession with Rosary 2pm today and Rosary & Devotions 5pm (next Sunday)

Trinity Sunday: After the whole cycle of the Pascal Mystery culminating in Pentecost, Mother Church has us ponder and contemplate the utter mystery and essence of God. Revelations demonstrates God in one in three persons; a mystery which defies mathematics. We ask Our Lady, Daughter of the Father, Mother of the Son and Spouse of the Holy Spirit to obtain for each of us the spirit of adoration before the Most Blessed Trinity.

Welcome to the Verona Fathers (Comboni Missionaries): This year, our annual Mission Appeal is being given by the Verona Fathers in aid of the Comboni Missionaries’ work amongst our more disadvantaged sisters and brothers in Africa, Latin America and Asia. They will speak at each of the Masses - Please be generous as you can be. Whilst on his sabbatical in 2014, Fr Chris stayed at the Comboni’s Arabian Institute in Cairo for a short while.

May Crowning & Procession: Today, after the Latin Mass, there will be a shared lunch in the club. At 2pm, Our Lady’s Statue will be crowned & we will have our procession with the Rosary, Litany & devotions will conclude with Benediction (no 5pm).

Pope Francis appoints new Auxiliary Bishop to Southwark Diocese: The Episcopal Ordination of Bishop-Elect Paul Mason will take place at St George’s Cathedral on 31st May, the feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Bishop-Elect Paul was born in Tyne & Wear in 1962 and attended St Anslem’s High School in North Shields & Kings College, London and worked for Olivetti in Turin & Hewlett Packard in London. He was one of the young men who attended a vocations day at Wonersh in 1990 run by Fr Stephen L & Fr CB, & was ordained a priest in July 1998. He has been assistant priest at St John the Baptist, Purley (98-01), Hospital Chaplain to Guys & St Thomas’ (01-12) & Director of Southwark Ongoing Formations (12-13). He will join Bishops Patrick Lynch & Paul Hendricks as Auxiliary Bishops of the Diocese of Southwark, succeeding Bishop John Hine.

Corpus Christi (Old Rite): On Thursday we celebrate Corpus Christi, therefore at 12.30 we will have a Sung Mass.

St Bede the Venerable (673-735) is our heavenly patron and Wednesday is his feast in the New Rite and Friday in the Old Rite.  We pray that he may obtain for us the grace to observe our faith as he did with joy and enthusiasm. The chronicles of the time testify him being “one of the most observant and happy of Monks”. May he, in the communion of Saints, by the power of the Holy Spirit teach us this simple lesson: that happiness is the fruit of observance of taking daily care to love both God and neighbour.

Rehearsal for FHC Group 1: Due to half-term, the rehearsal for our 1st group (5th June) will take place this Friday at 2pm. For those who attend schools other than St Bernadette’s – please ensure your child is here by 2pm. Please pick up your letter from Mrs Keane or Mrs Marshall as this gives all of the details of day itself and subsequent events. Orders for the DVDs should also be handed into either of these ladies or Fr Lukasz/Fr Pawel to give to the secretary.

Candles for Sale: As part of sending our youth to Poland in July for World Youth Day and to meet Pope Francis, most Churches are raising funds to support some of the costs involved. A couple of ladies from Holy Rosary Church in Brixton will be coming to St Bede's next weekend to sell candles make especially for the Year of Mercy outside after the Masses.  There is a poster on the noticeboards too.
