Welcome to Fr Andrew Pinsent: our 4th Advent preacher. Fr Andrew Pinsent, of Arundel & Brighton diocese, is Research Director of the Ian Ramsey Centre for Science & Religion at Oxford University, a Research Fellow of Harris-Manchester College and a member of the Faculty of Theology at Oxford. Fr Andrew has a doctorate in particle physics from Oxford, a degree in theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome and a doctorate in philosophy from St Louis University. He is a named author on thirty-one papers of the DELPHI experiment at CERN, Geneva and a member of the United Kingdom Institute of Physics. His licentiate dissertation in philosophy examined the specifically divine nature and end of the Christian virtuous life, especially in the spiritual anthropology of Thomas Aquinas. His doctoral dissertation continued this work by examining the unity of the non-Aristotelian virtues, gifts, beatitudes and fruits in Aquinas's work, drawing an analogy between Aquinas's virtue ethics and the findings of contemporary experimental psychology, especially joint attention and the second person. He has published articles, reviews & popular books, including a critically acclaimed catechetical course Evangelium.
Don’t forget to go to Confession!

Happy Christmas to you all - both to parishioners who keep this place going throughout the year and to our visitors near and far! A big thanks to all who work hard to prepare St Bede’s for Christmas – our flower arrangers, our Church cleaners, our brass cleaners, our choir and musicians. We give special thanks to all those who do the rotas and to those who read and serve. I hope all of you have a profound celebration of the Mystery of Christmas and a happy reunion with family and friends afterwards. Then especially to you Mums have a good rest on Boxing Day!

Christmas Offerings: In the porch and around the sides of the Church are the envelopes for your Christmas Offerings for the St Bede’s priests. As you are aware, a priest does not get a salary as such, and relies on the Collections at Christmas and Easter, as a significant source of income. These two collections are the only ones that are for the priests of the parish. Please be generous as your means will allow. Also we have three permanent appointed priests at this time.

New Years Eve:
  • 10.30pm Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament;
  • 11.30pm Confessions & Solemn Te Deum and Benediction
  • Sung Midnight Mass.
Welcome to Fr Andrawes Farag: from the Eparchy (Diocese) of Minya. He is one of the three priests in Upper Egypt with whom we have a link. He will be staying with us for 4 months and is looking to improve his English.  Anyone for learning Arabic?

Desperate Need: There is a 40-year old University lecturer who speaks very good English who needs a job.  He is a good teacher and has good IT skills and organisational capacity. Originally from Cairo, he and his wife were very kind to Fr Christopher last year. Please see fr CB if you have any ideas.
    Readers Rota - January to March 2016: are now available. Please collect your copy this weekend.

    Church Cleaners - This week: Trisha & Emma Johnson, Regina Curaj and Rosemary Nicholas and family.

    We need new cleaners too: Some of our cleaners who have been on the rota for many years no longer attend this Church or are unable to help us any longer. It is usually one Fri eve or Sat morning once every 3 months. Please hand in your details to 1 of the priests.

    Light to the Nations: a charity concert in aid of Tyburn Convent and its Mission Foundations will be held at St. James’ Church, Spanish Place on Sat 2nd Jan 2016 at 7.30pm. Tickets are on sale at Tyburn Convent or via their website:
