2nd Sunday of Advent

For this week's Masses - Click Here
Convent Mass: is now at 8.30am Monday to Saturday
Sung Vespers & Benediction: every Sunday in Advent at 5pm.

Visit our dedicated page HERE for more details on how you can sign up to support us at St Bede's.  This is an ongoing project - not just for Christmas or Bazaar time.  We hope to be able to raise money in this way for many years to come.

Welcome to Fr Neil Brett: Who is our 2nd Advent preacher. He was born outside of Hadrian’s Wall in Gosforth, near Newcastle. He was brought up in a non-Conformist family with a strong habit of prayer and high moral standards and educated at the local Grammar School. At University he took a first degree in education and started teaching in London. Drifting from the faith for a while before finding East-End Anglo-Catholicism, he then realised the need for the Church and Apostolic Succession. Fr Neil was received in 1993 at Farm Street. In the late 1990s he worked in Westcliff on Sea and then took a headship in Portsmouth. Responding to the call of priesthood, he spent 6 years at the English College in Rome and was ordained in 2010. He spent 5 years in Colchester until he was made parish priest of Upton Park this year.
Don’t forget to go to Confession!

Fr Christopher has swapped with Fr Neil and is in Upton Park this weekend

Advent Preachers: This year’s preachers will be:
  • Advent 3 (Gaudete Sunday) - Fr Matthew O’Gorman, who was ordained in the summer.
  • Advent 4 - Dr Andrew Pinsett, Oxford, a priest of A&B Diocese and the Research Director of the Ian Ramsey Centre for Science and Religion at Oxford University.
  • Christmas - our very own Fr Andrew Southwell.

  • Ordinary: Mass for four voices (William Byrd);
  • Offertory Ne timeas Maria (Tomas Luis de Victoria);
  • Communion: Canite tuba (Francisco Guerrero);
  • Recession: Alma Redemptoris Mater (Giovanni Perluigi da Palestrina).

Foundation Governor - St Bede's School: A vacancy on the governing body has arisen and expressions of interests are being sought from practising committed Catholics. The governors of the school work as a team, in close co-operation with the Co-Headteachers and all the staff. The school would benefit from people with skills/experience in the areas listed, though this is not essential (IT, legal, HR, or knowledge of the education sector in any capacity would be an asset but are not required). Anyone interested in the mission of foundation governor should not be put off by a lack of experience. Appropriate training is available during the period of service. Please contact the School Office at or 0208 674 7292 to obtain a governor’s information pack or see Fr Christopher.  The advert can be found on the notice boards or HERE

Laundry of Cottas: We need some volunteers to take our cottas home to launder and iron. Please speak to Fr CB next weekend.
