26th Sunday OT (Old Rite: XVIII Sunday after Pentecost)

Bazaar 2015 - Friday 27th & Saturday 28th November: Please put this dates in your diaries and start thinking seriously about your ideas of how to make this year’s annual Bazaar the best ever.  We had a good meeting last Tuesday and we now invite you to bring in bottles of wine/spirits, homemade jams, groceries, DVD, toys, fancy goods and jewellery.  Please bring in only stuff of good quality to avoid the time consuming misery of sorting through rubbish and binning most of it!  See below for a few ideas we have had already and how you can help us with “easy fundraising” & Estate Agency Boards

Easyfundraising - the Online Portal for shopping: Fundraising in today’s world is becoming increasingly difficult.  We at St Bede’s have done so well over the years; however we are constantly seeking new angles. We have now registered at easyfundraising.org.uk which is an online portal – (the tech savvy- please explain this to your family & friends).  In simple terms you register at http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk the cause is St Bede’s Church – be careful as there are quite a few other St Bede’s that are registered.  Then every time you shop online – go onto the site & look through the retailers - the portal will direct you to the shops that you probably buy from anyway!  By doing this, the church will receive a small percentage of your shopping bill (varies by retailer) – this is at no extra cost to yourself!!!  There are over 2500 retailers – ranging from EBay & Amazon to John Lewis and M&S. You can also book holidays, insure cars/property and do your supermarket shop – why not have a browse! The portal can be used all year around – so please advertise this too as the more people that sign up and use it, the more substantial the amount we raise will be. More details and a link to the portal will be put on our website & notice boards in due course.

Estate Agent Boards: Patrick Henry (PH) Estate Agents have agreed to sponsor the bazaar this year, by way of putting up property boards with both their logo and the details of the bazaar.  We need to put up as many as possible and PH will pay us £10 for each one. The boards will go up at least 28 days before the event & must be taken down 2 weeks after. The more boards we put up, the more money we raise!  If you own your property (you must in order to grant permission) and are willing to have a board, please email Chris BG (cbrewg@gmail.com), so she can compile a list.  Why not ask your neighbours either side as well.  Remember ….little drops of water make a mighty ocean.

Goodbye to Fr Miguel:  Fr Miguel Camacho is to go back to Rome very early on Tuesday 29th (Feast of St Michael!)  May God bless him and assist him in his studies towards PhD at Holy Cross University in Rome.

UCM Cake, Raffle & Table Top - Today: after the 9.30 & 11am Masses.  There are always lots of great prizes and yummy cakes for sale.  Please come along and support them.

Readers Rota - 4th October to 27th December: is now available at the back – please pick up your copy this weekend

Fr Lukasz: is in Brittany with parents at his sister’s wedding.  We hope the three of them will be here this evening for the 6pm Mass.

Margaret Howard: is one of our most famous parishioners having had an illustrious career with the BBC and Classic FM.  Sadly she feels compelled to move from Clapham and it will be a great loss to our parish.  She has been a School Governor at St Bernadette’s, a consulter on so many issues, a reader and the composer of our weekly bidding prayers.  Perhaps YOU could take her place.  Think about it please!

Dominic Lynch: has resigned from the Governors of St Bede’s after about 30 years of loyal service.  Words are inadequate when trying to say thank you but are very grateful to him and so many others who have been generous to this community.  Why don’t YOU think of being a Governor?

Annual African & Caribbean Association Thanksgiving Mass: will take place on Sunday 11th October at 12.30pm.  There will be a small reception in the club afterwards.

First Communion 2016:  Please bring back your yellow application form and seriously begin to go through the text.  DO NOT leave until later.  There is a lot of material to get through so begin now and try to do a little bit every night.

Confirmation 2016: Bishop Patrick Lynch has asked if he might come and give Confirmation on Sunday 3rd July.  That gives us a bit more time to prepare.  Applicants must be in Year 8 at least.

School Open Days:  For dates and times of Open Days for Year 7 entry (and Sixth Forms) in September 2016 - please CLICK HERE

Refugee Appeal: Alongside St Bede’s School we will be collecting clean, good quality clothing (babies up to adults especially men’s clothes) in a box in the Church porch.  The school has organised for the charity to come and collect the donations and bring them to Calais, where many migrant and refugee families are currently camping.

Rosary Crusade of Reparation - Saturday 10th October: The Crusade follows the route from Westminster Cathedral to the Brompton Oratory.  It starts at 2.15pm & finishes around 5pm.  For more info see the poster or visit rosarycrusadeofreparation.blogspot.com.
