17th Sunday OT (Old Rite: IX Sunday after Pentecost)

Last Newsletter / Day for Life: This last Sunday of July is the annual Day for Life and we have leaflets in the back of Church and a second collection which this year goes to assist the work of Anscombe Bioethics Centre and other life related activities supported by the Church. Please be generous and let us all stand up for the right to life!  After this week there is no newsletter but there will be a list of Masses and intentions until September.

Sunday 12.30 Mass Discontinued: Today is the last time we have the 12.30 Mass. Bishop Patrick Lynch suggested that we should not wait any longer to make this difficult decision.  Sadly our numbers simply do not warrant so many Masses.  We still have more Masses than most parishes and many Cathedrals!

Congratulations: to two newly ordained priests: Fr Matthew O'Gorman and Fr Mark Higgins, both old boys of the John Fisher School in Purley.  Last Saturday Fr Benny, Fr Miguel, Mgr Leo and Fr CB were all at the Cathedral for this happy occasion.  Pray for more vocations to the priesthood and religious life!

Welcome back to Fr Andrew:  He is off to the St Catherine’s Trust summer school in Wales today – back this Friday.

Welcome to Monsignor Leo White & Fr Tony Logan: who are here to help Fr Benny this weekend.

Fr Chris: is in Scotland this week.  He is in Aberdeen this weekend to celebrate the marriage of Daniel Cutts (nephew of Brian McCully & Susan) who was received into the Church some years ago at St Bede’s.

The Flowers in Church this weekend are in honour of little Michelle Calvalho da Costa who has leukaemia.  Her family say she is still as cheeky and cheerful as ever but ask for our continual prayers.

All London Caribbean Pilgrimage to Aylesford: Next Sunday (2nd).  Cost - £15 for adults & £10 for children.  Please see Lloyd Booker or poster regarding the coach and more information.
