15th Sunday OT - Sea Sunday (Old Rite: VII Sunday after Pentecost)

Mass Changes this week -
Thursday: 9am Mass will be moved to 9.40am, Adoration & Exposition therefore will be from 10.30am and there will no 8pm Mass until September.
Friday:  No 9am Mass in Church.  There will be Mass at 10am at St Bernadette's School.
From August:  There will no longer be a 12.30pm Mass on Sunday, unless on special occasions.

Thank you to the Missionaries:  As you saw last week we have had an amazing variety of people making up our mission team.  Fr Lorenzo from Segni in Italy, Fr Stephen Kennedy ordained last month, originally from Clondalkin in Dublin and Deacon Seán Bradley from Galway.  Then we had four Sisters, two Americans, one Brazilian and one from Argentina.  The four Major Seminarians comprise two Scotsman and two South Londoners.  Four Minor Seminarians comprise two Scotsman, one Sicilian and one from Spain.  Everyday has seen a wonderful programme beginning with Adoration and Mass.  Then they have visited houses in the parish all week.  Every afternoon there has been a special children’s games session in Tooting Bec Common finishing up with the Rosary, the daily Mission talk at 7pm and the music and fun to end the day.  We are very grateful to the team for bringing us the joy and freshness of the Gospel of Our Lord and Saviour.  We need these reminders as we get so slotted into our habitual routines, we can forget about our salvation, our need of sanctification and our need to witness to and serve others.

Thank You to Martine and Nick Hale, Chris Brew-Graves, Paula Tolhurst, David and Veronica Pierson and David and Katie Hunt who kindly put up Seminarians.

Thank You also to Shane Pereira, Claudia Linton, Lena Douggan, Arinola Badejo, Viorica Lenghel, Jose Ferreira, Crystal Clovis, Don Pereira, Rachael Edwards, Rita Cernuschi, Arturo Camacho Marquez and the African Caribbean Society who have fed the team.  Having 20 around the table everyday was an experience but there were many skilful helpers who served, washed up and set up for the next meal!

'End of Mission' Lunch: 1.30pm in the club.  Tickets cost £5 each or £12 for a family of four - courtesy of the African & Caribbean Association.

Special Sunday - 10.45 Mass today: Performed by Cantores Missae under the direction of Mr Charles Finch and kindly financed by The Latin Mass Society.

Ordinary:  Missa Aeterna Christi munera by Giovanni Perluigi da Palestrina.
Offertory: Ego flos campi by Alonso Lobo
Communion:  Ego sum panis vivus by William Byrd.

Today is Sea Sunday: when the Church prayers for all those who love & work at sea.  Without them we would not have most of the items we buy in the shops.  Today’s 2nd collection is for the Apostleship of the Sea (AoS), the Church’s official maritime welfare agency.  It supports seafarers both practically & spiritually.  This annual collection is absolutely vital to enable it to continue to work, so please give generously and remember seafarers in your prayers.  Thank you.  For more information on the work of AoS please visit www.apostleshipofthesea.org.uk
