25th Sunday (Old Rite: XV Sunday after Pentecost)

SPUC Information Day: In this parish we have collections like White Flower Appeal for SPUC (in January) and we help the Good Counsel Network.  Today we have some special speakers from SPUC (Isaac & Rhoslyn) to help us understand how profound these problems are & how they affect us all.

Bazaar (Fri 28th / Sat 29th Nov):  Please think of one really nice object to bring for the fancy goods stall.  Also please think of ways in which you could volunteer for the big weekend.  Every little bit of effort helps to achieve the goal!  Don't forget to put Wednesday 8th October in your diaries - next Bazaar meeting!

Fr Andrew Southwell:  The University of St Thomas Aquinas, the Angelic Doctor is commonly called ‘The Angelicum’.  Fr Andrew has done so well on his Licentiate which he began in 2012 that the University has suggested that he studies for a Doctorate.  Our Archbishop, Peter Smith, has agreed and we congratulate Fr Andrew on his success and on embarking on a privileged academic adventure!

Scouts: Marco Lecca is our new Group Scout Leader and he needs some help.  Please think seriously about this - they need a treasurer & a secretary in the first instance as well as volunteers to help with the running the various groups.

Goodbye to Fr Marco: Thank you for your time with us & God willing, the English tuition was helpful (back to Rome tomorrow).

Please remember St Bede's in your Will: In 2005 / 2006 preparing for the centenary of our Church, we received a substantial legacy from Jean Cullinan RIP.  This very generous gift enabled us to rewire Church, Club and Presbytery and to completely redecorate the Church.  We are now considering the development of the front and back gardens, but all these things depend on the generosity of people when they make their will.  Don’t forget St Bede's.

The Laurels School: has almost finished their new Chapel with Altar and Tabernacle which is at the heart of this new school. It has been established by PACT Educational Trust in line with its charitable purpose of promoting schools that support families in their desire to raise children into adults of integrity, committed to living their lives by Christian principles.  The Laurels is making the same virtue-based education available to girls up to the age of 18. (PACT has also opened a secondary school for boys, The Cedars, in Croydon). The Laurels open day this Tuesday 23rd 10-12pm.  Also the school is hosting an event to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support who help people facing cancer, from the moment they are diagnosed, through treatment and afterwards.  It takes place on Fri 26th at 2.30 – 4pm.  Please go along and support this great charity, everyone is welcome!

Home Missions Sunday (2nd Collection Today): The Catholic faith is missionary.  We do not hoard the Good News only for ourselves but proclaim and share it the ends of the earth.  Firstly, however, we must witness to it right here at home in our paganised and materialist society.  Charity begins at home.

UCM Coffee Morning – Next Sunday: in aid of the Christians in Iraq.  Please come along and support this cause

African & Caribbean Association: are holding a meeting after 9.30 Mass next Sunday to discuss preparation for their Annual Thanksgiving Mass & Reception on 12th October at 12.30pm Mass.
