17th Sunday OT (Old Rite: VII Sunday after Pentecost)

Last Newsletter until Sunday 7th September

Last Newsletter of the Summer! During the month of August the schools are out, we cease the 12.30 Mass on Sundays and many groups go on holiday.  In the same way, we do not have a newsletter; instead posting a list of Mass times and intentions on the notice boards and our blog (next newsletter will be on 7th September).
I hope you are all keeping cool and drinking plenty of water!  Please God you will all get an opportunity to rest and relax; but remember “there is no holiday from the spiritual life” so when you are away do check in to the local Church and attend Mass.  We thank God for so many wonderful graces especially the Confirmations, Holy Communions and forthcoming marriages. I thank God for my sabbatical and I thank Fr Simon Leworthy for holding onto the reins of the parish so admirably.  In September he will be visiting his parents.  Fr Christopher Andrews is in Ireland until 5th August.  Our Sisters are on retreat and their regular 8am Mass will begin again on Wednesday 6th August.  I hope you all have a bit of a break.  God bless!  Fr Christopher B

2nd Collection - 'Day for Life' this weekend: This is the day in the Church’s calendar dedicated to celebrating the Sacredness of Life.  Recently in the House of Lords they have debated ‘Assisted Dying’.  We Christians believe that life is sacred from the womb to the tomb.  The proceeds from the ‘Day for Life’ collection provide core funding for the Linacre Centre for Healthcare ethics and to cover the cost of the materials for the Day for Life.  In addition grants will be made to support Catholic charities working in the particular field determined by the theme of the year.
