Most Holy Trinity

Thank you very much to the 3 wise men & 4 wise women who kept St Bede’s church, parish & presbytery going during my absence. I am very grateful to Fr Simon Leworthy who admirably administered the parish since last December & overseeing the great feasts of Christmas & Easter.  Thanks also to Dom Christopher Andrews OSB & Fr Maciek Wygnański who leaves St Bede’s on 25th June.  “Behind any successful man somewhere you will find … an exhausted woman!”  At St Bede’s we have Nora, as parish secretary and Eunice as bursar.  There is always a lot to do.  In the house we have Teresa and Phyllis (who last week did not ‘mind the gap’ getting off a bus so please pray for her recovery).  I was always told “a presbytery without a woman’s touch will soon become a barracks.”         I visited 12 countries, went on 2 courses & returned for the first time in 43 years to Iran where I lived from the age of 4 to 18, & to Lebanon where I commuted to school.  Everything I knew (except the Churches) was all swept away.  In Egypt I saw Frs. Athanasius, Romany & Andrawes.  I assisted at the Do for Fr R’s church which you helped build.  Fr Chris B

Tragedy: A couple of days ago, burglars got into a Catholic Church in Arizona and shot dead Fr Kenneth Walker aged 29, ordained two years ago.  Badly injured was the PP, Fr Joseph Terra who 30 years ago spent some time as a Deacon with Fr Thwaites in the Loreto Brixton Youth Project.  Both priests were members of the Fraternity of St Peter and ran a vibrant and successful Latin Mass Community in Phoenix RIP.
