2nd Sunday of Easter / Divine Mercy Sunday (Old Rite: Low Sunday)

Divine Mercy Sunday is a modern Devotion propagated by Blessed Faustina, a Polish Nun, who experienced revelations from our Blessed Lord.  She died before the Second World War & for several decades the revelations were under investigations by the Church authorities.  During the Pontificate of John Paul II, he promoted this devotion which is now spread throughout the world & is recited every day at St Bede’s after the daily Rosary.

New Saints: ‘A true festival of faith and a ‘festival of holiness’  Today the church rejoices in the Canonisation of two great and beloved Popes, John Paul II and John XXIII.

Gift Aid and Tax Changes: With the increase this month in the Personal Tax Allowance to £10,000, it is expected that a number of taxpayers will be taken out of taxation altogether. If you are in the Gift Aid scheme and this happens to you, please inform Maria Chang, the parish Gift Aid Co-ordinator. All members of the Gift Aid scheme should be aware that they must pay enough income tax to cover the tax rebate we claim on their donations.

Welcome to the Little Sisters of the Poor who will be selling tickets for their Garden Fete after the Masses today.
Goodbye to Fr Linus Clovis who leaves us on Tuesday.

'Not for Sale' Campaign: Modern Slavery can go unseen for months & sometimes years.  It takes place all over the country from quiet villages to large cities.  It is so widespread in the UK that you are likely to have come into contact with a victim of trafficking yourself but would not have recognised them as such.  Many news outlets have portrayed the issue of modern slavery as the sexual exploitation of women; however, its most common form is slave labour. In May, a new Modern Slavery Bill will be presented to Parliament.  By signing our petition, together we can encourage our MP’s to support the Bill and you could help free someone from modern-day slavery.  The petition is on the table in porch.
