4th Sunday of Lent (Laetare / Mothering Sunday)

Laetare / Mothering Sunday:  Today we are at the mid point of Lent and Mother Church allows us to relax a little from the fast with flowers on the altar and the organ being played.  The liturgical colour is softened from violet to rose and the Mass begins with the words “Laetare Jerusalem” (Rejoice Jerusalem…).  We contemplate the motherhood of the Church which is exemplified by our Blessed Lady herself.  On this day we honour all Mothers and pray for them whether they are living or dead.  We pay tribute to all of you who have worked hard to bring up children as this is the most important job in human society.  God bless our Mothers!

Special Sunday: Today at 10.45am Mass.  Ordinary: Mass in G (Giovanni B. Casali). Offertory: Ave Maris Stella (Tomas Luis de Vittoria). Communion: Adiranys te. Christe (Orlandus Lassus).  Ave regina caelorum (Josef Rheinberger).Sung by Cantores Missae  with Mr Charles Finch

Lenten Extra:  Don’t forget to review your resolutions every day and to pray for the grace to keep them going!  Don’t forget the daily Masses at St Bede’s.  We also have Rosary after the 9am weekday Mass and Exposition & Adoration on Thursday mornings.
Lenten Confessions: Saturdays 9.30-10am; 5.30 – 6pm.  Sunday: 9.40 – 10.10am; 11-11.30am.
