28th Sunday OT (Old Rite: XXI Sunday after Pentecost)

October – Month of the Holy Rosary. Today, and every Sunday in October we have Devotions, Sermon & Benediction at 5pm.  The rosary is usually recited after every 9am Mass on weekdays throughout the year.

Annual Bazaar - Friday 29th / Saturday 30th November 2013: Don’t forget to put the date in your diaries!   It is a challenge we set ourselves each year to raise the £13000 needed for our annual payment to the Diocese, and we need your help & support to get there! Tomorrow at 8pm, we have our next planning meeting – please come along, with your ideas, volunteer and help St Bede’s meet this challenge!  Donations of good items please - fancy goods; jewellery; cake making materials (flour, sugar, mixed fruit etc), empty jam jars; religious articles; CDs, DVDs & books.  This year we will have the Arts & Crafts stall again, so we need your homemade crafts as well.  Don’t forget the homemade jams & chutneys too that our wonderful summer has helped produce.  We cannot sell Electrical items, and also no jumble, videos or Encyclopaedias please.

Could you offer someone a home far from home for just a day or two? HOST, a well-established charity, is hoping to hear from people who enjoy making others feel at home, and who would love to meet interesting young adults from other parts of the world who are currently studying at universities in the UK, and who want to understand this country better.
One host wrote: ‘It is a great to welcome these students and make them feel wanted. They get to see a good side of life in Britain in contrast to what they might learn from the media. It is also fun getting to know someone from another country.’
Invitations can be for a day, a weekend, or 3 days at Christmas. Sharing Christmas with someone who has little idea what Christmas is can be really special – and for the guest, much better than being on a deserted university campus. Invitations are urgently needed from volunteer hosts, no matter how far they live from a university. To find out more, please see www.hostuk.org or call HOST 020 7739 6292. Thank you.
