27th Sunday (Old Rite: XX Sunday after Pentecost) Rosary Sunday

October – Month of the Holy Rosary. Today, and every Sunday in October we have Devotions, Sermon & Benediction at 5pm.  The rosary is usually recited after every 9am Mass on weekdays.

Rosary Crusade This Saturday: This is the biggest procession of the year, leaving from Westminster Cathedral at 2.15pm and walking all the way across London to Brompton Oratory where we have hymns, a Sermon (fr CB!), blessing of scapulars and Benediction. Our first communicants (in their special clothes) and our servers lead the way.  We will meet at Westminster Cathedral by the statue (entrance on left-hand side – Ambrosden Avenue) by 2pm.  Children MUST be accompanied by their parents or approved adult.

Family Fast Collection for Syria - Today: This year we are obviously thinking of the devastation and tragedy in Syria.  Over 100,000 people have been killed and millions are in refugee camps in Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan. Over a million Christians have left Syria for Lebanon.  John Gregg from Aid to the Church in Need will be here to make the appeal (John Pontifex Sunday 6pm).   Please be generous.  Saturday week (Oct 19th) there is a special day at Westminster Cathedral Hall to flag up the horrible situation in Syria.  The Patriarch of Damascus will be there and Fr Christopher and Fr Andrawos will represent the clergy of St Bede’s.  Look at the web or talk to John Gregg if you want tickets or information.

Spanish Civil War Martyrs: will be beatified in Tarragona on Sunday 19th October.  Bishop Pat will be going as several young members of his congregation were martyred and Sister Josefina will be representing our Sisters as they have four martyrs of the same war, to be beatified.  Sister Carmel will be at the main Masses this weekend with literature.

Annual Bazaar: 29/30th November!: Please start to bring in your GOOD items - bottles, fancy goods, jewellery, cake making materials, empty jars for the jam makers, good-as-new toys, religious articles, handmade crafts, homemade jams & chutneys, CDs & DVDs. (We don’t want Jumble, Videos, Encyclopaedias or Electrical goods please).  The next planning meeting is Monday 14th October at 8pm – we hope to see you there!  Please think seriously how YOU can help make a difference to this annual fundraiser which is increasingly challenging!

Welcome back to Fr Simon Leworthy.
