14th Sunday OT (Old Rite: VII Sunday after Pentecost)

Summertime!!! Someone once said when the sun shines England is one of the most beautiful countries in the world!  We are very blessed in having a patch of beautiful warm weather.  The procession last week heralded this and the First Holy Communion children with their Confirmation counterparts led the way so beautifully.  The trumpets, drum and our two choirs came together to make a “joyful noise for the Lord”.   The Altar looked resplendent and many thanks to all who contributed to the success of this public witness to the glory of God.  We welcome Fr Andrew back who has passed all of his exams and is half way through his sabbatical.  The Archbishop has granted Fr CB a mini-sabbatical from after the Bazaar to June 2014.  Fr Simon Leworthy is to be the administrator here during that time.

Welcome back to Fr Andrew from a steamy Rome!

Welcome back to Fr Martin Thompson from Albania who is staying with us for a month.

Welcome to our newest visitor - Fr Julian Morales also from Rome, but originally from Colombia who is with us until the end of October.

Apostleship of the Sea (2nd collection next Sunday):  Next Sunday is Sea Sunday, when the Church prays for all those who live and work at sea.  The Apostleship of the Sea (AoS) is the offical maritime welfare agency of the Catholic Church in Great Britain.  The Apostleship of the Sea reaches out to seafarers visiting our ports, offering pastoral and practical support and care.  AoS is wholly dependent on voluntary donations to continue its work of bringing the love of Christ to seafarers in the name of the Church, recognising them as our brothers and sisters in need.
Sea Sunday is your chance to help AoS make a real difference to the lives of seafarers.  Everything AoS does is on behalf of Britain's Catholic community.  The parish will take up a second collection on Sea Sunday for the work of AoS - so please give generously.  Its ministry cannot continue without your support.  For more information on the work of AoS please visit their website at www.apostleshipofthesea.org.uk
