11th Sunday OT (Old Rite: IV Sunday after Pentecost)

June - Month of Sacred Hert:  The supposedly warm month of June reflects the burning heart of Our Blessed Lord who says in the Gospel “Come to me all of you who are heavy laden and I shall give you rest: shoulder my yoke and learn from me for I am gentle and humble of HEART”.  This ancient devotion reminds us of the incarnation.  St Teresa of Avila says when we find it difficult to pray we should just think of the humanity of Christ; then we just talk to him and spend time with him in a way that is natural.  The gift of faith should be nourished by our piety on a daily basis as should any important relationship.

Summer Fayre – Friday 28th June:  From 5pm to 8pm, our two schools, St Bede’s and St Bernadette’s will hold their annual summer fayre at St Bernadette’s.    Please show your support for our two schools as they do a tremendous job in developing our young people and with all the financial cuts are in increasing need.  Don’t forget to come!

‘Special Sunday’ – today: at 10.45am Mass.  The Ordinary will be Missa Petre Ego Pro Te Rogavi & the Offertory Motet: Ego Flos Campi both by Alouso Lobo; the Communion Motet: Cibavit Eos by William Byrd.  The Mass will be sung by Cantores Missae under the direction of Charles Finch and kindly sponsored by the LMS.

Little Sisters of the Poor: Fr Leworthy and Fr CB went to their summer fete last week.  The Sisters were very grateful for your support in buying raffle tickets.  We visited Philip Clarke who used to live on Hydethorpe Road until they took him in at St Peter’s.  He is all there and loves to hear about his old parish.  He is 97!

Welcome: to Fr Dominic Allain from Wimbledon, also Chaplain at the Vaughan School who is helping us out again this weekend.  Last week we also had Deacon Harry Heijveld, originally from Holland, who will be ordained priest soon in Plymouth.  He is the same year as our own Tom Lynch.

Welcome to God's Church: Oliver Jean Caley & Theo Albert Caley Gonzalez-Castro, twin sons of Javier & Stephanie and Christopher Bendit Kanfando, son of Raymond & Virginie all baptised by Fr Christopher last Saturday.

Chewing Gum: Recently chewing gum has been found stuck to the pews.  We kindly ask you not to chew gum in Church; please dispose of it responsibly before coming into Mass.
