5th Sunday of Easter (Old Rite: IV Sunday after Easter)

FAREWELL TO FR CHRISTOPHER EHIDIAMHEN: On Tuesday afternoon, Fr Christopher Ehidiamhen leaves us after spending the past three years at St Bede’s & providing summer supply at St Joseph’s in Shooters Hill. His very last Mass with us will be 9am on Tuesday morning.  Fr Christopher will go home to Nigeria before taking up his new post in Oregon, USA in August.  We will miss him and thank him for all he has done whilst here.  Hope you have a safe journey home & best wishes in your next placement from all at St Bede’s.

MAY THE MONTH OF OUR LADY: This beautiful month with blossoms, flowers and magnificence of colour is dedicated to our Blessed Lady.  St Bernadette of Lourdes said “nothing down here can compare to the beauty which I have seen”.  The natural beauty of spring and summer is a foreshadowing of the Testament; our Blessed Lady is seen in the midst of the Apostles and early Christians praying for the gift of the Holy Spirit.  In the same way we follow the example of Mary, Mother of the Lord in praying for the graces that each of us need. The Statue of Our Lady of Fatima will be coming to St Bede's.

WELCOME INTO GOD’S CHURCH: Cherisse Nana Akua Ewusie , daughter of Justice Kofi and Gloria baptised by Fr Christopher Basden a couple of weeks ago.

CONGRATULATIONS: to Laura Woodman & Martyn Kolankiewicz who married yesterday in Purley.  They have a place on Salford Road
