4th Sunday of Lent (Lætare Sunday) (Mothering Sunday)

WELCOME TO FR MAURICIO SAAVEDRA-MONROY: who is an Augustinian friar, born in Bogota, Colombia in 1981. He has an M.A. and a Ph. D. in Theology and Patristic Sciences from the Patristic Institute in Rome, run by his own order. He is the author of an unpublished study on the journalist from Nueva Granada, Diego Francisco Padilla (2005) and of an academic contribution entitled The ekklesiai in the socio-cultural contexts of the Mediterranean and the various organisational solutions (2012). He is engaged in the teaching of Patristic Sciences in the Saint Augustine Cervantina University Foundation of Bogota and in Rome. At present he is carrying on post-doctoral studies at the LSE and very kindly providing St Bede’s Latin American community with Mass every Saturday night in Spanish. His Doctoral dissertation won him a Summa cum Laude.  He is also the secretary to Cardinal Proper Grech, OSA of Malta and hopes to travel back for the conclave.  Next week our preacher is Fr Roger Nesbitt from Folkestone.

‘SPECIAL SUNDAY’ TODAY: The Ordinary will be Mass for Four Voices by William Byrd.  Offertory: Ave Maria by Francisco Guerrero; Communion: Adoramus Te by Lassus and the Salutation of Our Lady: Ave regina coelorum (chant). Financially sponsored by the Latin Mass Society.  Sung by Cantores Missae, under the direction of Mr. Charles Finch.  Photos courtesy of Ashford Clovis.

FR TOM HENEGHAN R.I.P: We are all very shocked at the sudden death of our Dean in Lambeth and the Parish Priest of Corpus Christi, Brixton Hill this past Wednesday.  For almost twenty years he was at St Francis, Larkhall Lane in Stockwell.  There will be Vigil Mass held on Sunday 17th at 6pm (Celebrant  - Bishop Pat Lynch) and his Requiem will be held at 12pm noon on Monday 18th March, (Celebrant - Archbishop Peter Smith).  His body will be return to Co. Mayo for the Funeral Mass to be held on Wednesday 20th March.

CONCLAVE IN ROME: This coming week after the important preliminary meetings of the Cardinals, the conclave should begin.  Please everybody remember to pray and fast for this very important process that the gates of Hell may be truly confounded.

LENTEN EXTRA DAILY MASS:  Just think, a weekday Mass provides us with a fresh part of the Word of God, opportunity for Holy Communion, Adoration, a bit of peace and quiet amidst the uproar of the day, time to reflect on the things we usually forget, fraternity with others, and an opportunity to pray for the pressing needs of the world at the moment!  Give the Lord an extra Mass this coming week as you are amazingly blessed by a parish that has more Masses than practically anywhere in England!
