4th Sunday OT. (Old Rite: Sexagesima Sunday)

ST BLAISE - BLESSING OF THROATS:  The traditional blessing of throats will be given today after each Sunday Mass.  After the 9.30 the blessing will be given in the club so you can walk right through if you wish.  Our throats are so important for our physical health and of course we use them to speak and we must always seek to the curb the tongue from uncharitable words.  St Blaise was a Bishop and Martyr of the Armenian people; the first nation to declare itself Christian.  Almost a hundred years ago they suffered a horrendous holocaust in which one & a half million of them were killed in present day Turkey, Iraq and Syria.  That began a diaspora of Armenians all over the world and sadly it was to herald other genocidal activity especially in Nazi Germany, Pol Pot’s, Cambodia and most recently in Rwanda. As we receive the blessing of St Blaise let us never forget to pray for our Christian Brothers & Sisters suffering in Syria and the rest of the Middle East not to mention North Korea and other places throughout the world.

CONFIRMATION 2013: Bishop Patrick Lynch will come on 12th May.  If you haven’t already done so, please pick up a purple form from Fr CB this weekend.
