Holy Family (Old Rite: Sunday within the Octave of Nativity)

TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS: lead us traditionally to the Epiphany and the liturgy for the next few weeks is meditating on the mystery of the Word made flesh. The implications of the incarnation are so many.  All of creation is in some sense sanctified by the presence of God made man.  That means that created matter can be a means to the end of union with God.  Icons, statues and pictorial representation are all ways that we can appreciate the mystery of the Kingdom which is beyond pictures.  Nevertheless with the coming of Christmas we can see the face of the Lord.

THANK YOU: The Priests thank you for your cards, gifts and Christmas offering.

HAPPY NEW YEAR: to you all.  In this parish we always begin the New Year with a solemn Mass to beseech the Divine Majesty for the graces we need in the New Year.  Each one of us should make a New Year’s resolution to tackle some area in our life which habitually we may neglect.

NEW YEARS EVE: 10.30pm Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament; 11.30pm Confessions & Solemn Te Deum and Benediction followed by Sung Midnight Mass.

GOODBYE FR ANDREW: who leaves us again this Friday to return to Rome.

FR CHRISTOPHER BASDEN:  is away in Egypt until January 13th.

ORDINARIATE EPIPHANY CAROL SERVICE: A festival of carols and readings for the Epiphany of the Lord with music and readings by candlelight.  Thursday 10th January, 7pm at St Mary's, Cadogan Street, (nearest tube Sloane Square). Music during service will be led by the Schola Cantorum of the Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School.  Free Admission.
YEAR OF FAITH EVENT - SCHOOL OF FAITH: A new study course on the Catechism of the Catholic Church for the Year of Faith.  Every Wednesday evening from 9th January to 20th March, 7.30pm at the Centre for Catholic Formation in Tooting Bec (next to St Anslem’s Church/opposite tube station). Each session includes a light buffet supper, refreshments, study notes and the keynote lecture from a well-known and dynamic speaker.  The course runs for 12 weeks and the cost is £50 for the full course or you can attend individual sessions at £8 per session (payable at the door on the night).  There will also be a Saturday session on 23rd March starting at 10am.  Fr Christopher B will be attending from 16th January.  For more information or to book your place, complete the online registration form at ccftootingbec.org.uk (link also on sidebar); Tel: 020 8672 7684/2422 or email office@ccftootingbec.org.uk.

THE PILGRIMAGE OF THE RELICS OF DON BOSCO: is a unique opportunity encouraging us to celebrate youth spirituality in the UK.  The Relics will journey across the UK and provide the opportunity for people to come together in celebration of Don Bosco, Patron Saint of Young People.  We are hoping that this Pilgrimage will be a further opportunity to celebrate the great energy, enthusiasm and hope which young people bring to the church community. London events will be held on Fri 11th/Sat 12th January at Metropolitan Cathedral of the Most Precious Blood, Westminster & Sun 13th/Mon 14th at St George’s Cathedral, Southwark.  There will be a Eucharistic celebration at the heart of the visit to each venue.  For more information visit www.donboscorelics.co.uk, see poster or pick up a flyer.
