32nd Sunday OT - Remembrance Sunday (Old Rite: 5th Sunday after Epiphany)


BAZAAR - FRI 30th NOV / SAT 1ST DEC:  HELP!!!  We are so close and yet we are so far from anticipating our goal.  Very few bottles have arrived and we need to see the parlour full (and it is not full yet!) of good-as-new, jewellery, fancy goods, religious articles, groceries, toys, books and DVDs. Hurry up and get your name on the dinner list and next week the Bistro menus should be here. NO JUMBLE OR VIDEOS PLEASE. 
DRAW TICKETS: Have you brought back your sold tickets?   Please bring in as soon as possible!  

REMEMBRANCE DAY: THE 11th DAY OF THE 11th MONTH: which today falls on the same day as Remembrance Sunday - a day set aside for us to remember all those who died during war.  At 10.45am we have a solemn (polyphonic) requiem for all the war dead & at the 12.30 Mass, we will have a requiem for all those who died in this parish over the past year.  At 3pm we will bless the graves at Streatham Park Cemetery - Rowan Road (Please note: due to work on the railway bridge - Greyhound Lane is not accessible from Streatham High Road (for the next six months) – access will be via diversion along Mitcham Lane and Eardley Road).  

BIBLE PROGRAMME: The last session of the bible programme will be on Sunday 25th November at 7pm in the social club.  Regular participants – don’t forget to fill in your evaluation forms and bring them on the day.

AFRICAN & CARIBBEAN MEETING: Today after 9.30 Mass

GOSPEL OF ST MARK: Brendan Somers, an actor who is married to the niece of Fr Hugh Thwaites is coming to St Bede’s to perform his “Gospel of St Mark” on Friday 14th December at 7.30pm.  This is for the Year of Faith.  Please see poster at the back of Church.

CHURCH CLEANERS ROTA – 16th/17th NOVEMBER: Teresa Ablett, Angela Pinto & Rita Ajuga

(Year of Faith Event) “POWERPOINT AND BEYOND: USING COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY TO PRESENT THE CATHOLIC FAITH” is a one-day session led by Deacon Paul Milligan, on using computer technology in presenting the faith.  Saturday 17th Nov 11am – 4pm.  Centre for Catholic Formation (21 Tooting Bec Rd, SW17 8BS - next to Tooting Bec station; car parking also available) 11:00am – 4:00pm. ().   There is no charge, but please book with CCF (020 8672 7684 or office@ccftootingbec.org.uk).  Please bring packed lunch or obtain food locally.  

DOUBLE LINE OUTSIDE CHURCH: A few parishioners have reported receiving parking tickets for parking outside church on a Sunday.  Please note that there are double yellow lines opposite the St Bede’s school entrance across the road hump and either side – and parking on these (or any double yellows) will most likely result in a fine – as it is not permitted at any time!

LIBERA CONCERT: The internationally acclaimed boy singers of Libera continue their Autumn UK concert tour at St George's Cathedral, Southwark, Friday 16th November at 7.30pm.  The boys have a stunningly original sound, which is at once both ancient and modern.  Their distinctive flowing white robes symbolise the traditional origins of their style - yet their music reaches across the generations to a modern audience.  Tickets £17.50 (concessions £10 - Premium £30).  www.ticketweb.co.uk.  tel: 08444 771 000.  

TOWARDS ADVENT: The 2012 Towards Advent Festival of Catholic Culture takes place on Saturday 24th November at Westminster Cathedral Hall, Ambrosden Avenue.  Opening 10.30am with Archbishop Vincent Nichols.  Stalls & displays by a wide variety of Catholic groups and organisations.  Music, talks, sales of books & DVDs and Catholic items including rosaries, statues & Christmas cards etc.  An opportunity to celebrate the Catholic Faith.  Admission is free, everyone welcome.  Please see poster at back of church for more information.
