Corpus Christi (Old Rite: II Sunday after Pentecost)

CORPUS CHRISTI.  This week we celebrate the greatest of all the Sacraments.  Everyday Mother Church offers to feed us with the Bread of Life, the medicine of immortaility.  As one of the greatest modern English authors says; "Out of the darkness of my life, so much frustrated, I put before you the one great thing to love on earth: the Blessed Sacrament .....  There you will find romance, glory, honour, fidelity, and the true way of all your loves upon earth, and more than that:  Death: by the divine paradox, that which ends life, and demands the surrender of all, and yet by the taste (or foretaste) of which alone can what you seek in your earthly relationships (love, faithfulness, joy) be maintained, or take on that complexion of reality, of eternal endurance, which every man's heart desires."  (The Letters of J.R.R Tolkien, no. 43 to his son).  May we pray for a greater devotion to the Blessed Eucharist!  Procession July 1st!

FR MAREK KALETA: is helping out at a Polish parish in Coventry this weekend.  He will say a Polish Mass for our schools on Friday at 4pm and leaves us on Saturday.

NEXT SUNDAY:  We have a 'Special Sunday' at the 10.45am Mass - the setting will be Missa Petre ego pro te rogavi by Alonso Lobo.  Then at 12.30pm Archbishop Peter Smith is coming to say a special Mass for the Nuns to celebrate the Centenary of Handmaids of Mary.
