Induction of John Conway

Bishop Instructs New Head: Today at 12.30pm our area Bishop, the Rt. Revd Patrick Lynch is formally inducting Mr John Conway as our new Head of La Retraite School. He hails originally from Faversham, Kent where he was educated at the Catholic primary school in Whitstable (Sr. Mary Assumpta, his first teacher will be here today). From there he went to the local Grammar and finally University at Durham. In the last 20 years, he has had an illustrious career rising in the ranks from a teacher of Science to Head of Year, first Head of the re-founded sixth form, Deputy Head and now he is our Head teacher! The first man to ever to hold the job since 188o, is married with three young children (another first for a La Retraite Head!). He lives in Epsom where he is an active member of St Joseph's Church. We are vecy happy to welcome Canon William Daverne from Epsom (who with 30 other nervous young men began at Wonersh Seminary with Fr C. B. 36 years ago!). We also welcome Fr. Tom Heneghan our Dean from Corpus Christi, Brixton Hill (formerly of Stockwell). We also welcome the Mayor of Lambeth with one of our counsellors and Mr Louis Desa, Head of Bishop Thomas Grant School and our own Mrs Deborah Hogan of St Bernadette's. From the Diocesan Schools Commission we welcome Mr Michael Cullinane and we welcome the staff, students, parents and Governors. Congratulations!
